My AC Fan Died Today: When Do You Repair an Old Air Conditioner, and When Do You Replace It?
My AC stopped cooling properly, and the outdoor fan turned out to be the problem. That repair is manageable, but the bigger question is harder: when you have an older R-22 system and replacement quotes around $12,000 to $15,000, when does it make sense to keep repairing it and when is it finally time to replace the whole thing?
